The original plan was to purchase a laminate flooring for the first floor of our home from Home Depot. We had the laminate picked out and couldn’t wait to make it happen.
Then life was turned upside down and projects put on hold.
I’m the DIYer in the family but hubby sometimes helps out. He would especially helped out on the moving furniture and lugging the boxes in the house part, but that’s not going to happen right now.
I’m not a huge fan of peel-n-stick, but I’m even less of a fan of the blue peel-n-stick tiles that currently bless my floor in the kitchen area.
Sometimes you just have to go with a right-now approach.
So, off to Home Depot I went to pick out a peel-n-stick tile for the kitchen.
Similar to what I purchased…
Vinyl Tile: TrafficMASTER Ceramica Flooring 12 in. x 12 in. Shasta Resilient Vinyl Tile Flooring (30 sq. ft. / case) Browns / Tans 53112
The only tools I used was a ruler, utility knife and a scrap piece from my junk pile.
I used a few left over tiles to cover the stairs to the basement leaving painted edges showing on each of the steps.
What an improvement the tiles made.
Remember the blue flooring in these photos…
and this…

The blue floor had to go…
What an improvement the new tiles have made!
The room now flows and looks like it’s all one room instead of two different rooms.
What’s your thoughts of peel-n-stick? Love them? Hate them? I would love to hear your thoughts.
I have a few more projects to complete in the kitchen before the weather changes and it’s time to get cracking on the outdoors.
I’m so looking forward to the beautiful sunny weather.
Thanks for stopping by!
I’m sharing this post with a few amazing linky parties.
Wow! It turned out great! Very nice improvement and bonus points for doing it on your own 🙂
I think you did a beautiful job Andrea! I also think it made a nice improvement.
I agree with you that sometimes you need to do what works appropriately at that moment & the peel & stick was a smart choice to do for what worked for you right now.
Great job & hope you pat yourself on the back for your beautiful efforts. Xo

great way to cover up what you don’t want to see. I have subway tiles that I hate the color of. Do you have any suggestions of how I might cover them up?
These peel and stick tiles are wonderful! We used them in our food and décor storage room in the basement. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
hugs,
Jann
It turned out wonderful! It looks much better now. Thanks for sharing at #HomeMattersParty
I think they are a great temporary solution for floors. If you purchase the high quality ones they can last a long time! We purchased the ones that you can grout like regular tiles for our bathroom and I love it. However, the rest of our ENTIRE house was peel and stick tile. And not the good kind, but the $5 – $7 a box kind. We had them in our house for about 10 years and by about year 5 or 6 they were falling apart, popping up, cracking, etc. We are finally putting in laminate flooring throughout the house.
Popping over from Teach Me Tuesday =) I’m not a huge fan of the peel and stick tiles… but they have served me well. We redid our upstairs bedroom with them along with a portion of our basement. I think the key it to get a good quality tile and a nice pattern that doesn’t look too fake. Be sure to share your recipes, crafts, upcycles & DIYs at Two Uses Tuesday (Mon 8pm EST to Fri 11pm EST) over at Sarah Celebrates if you don’t already!
Sometimes you just gotta do what needs done now. I’ve used the TrafficMaster peel and stick in bathrooms before and loved how it turned out. I think the tile you chose works perfectly in your space. Thank you for sharing with us at Merry Monday!
I like the choice of tiles for your kitchen. Looks very nice!

Your kitchen floor looks great!!! Can you share what the manufacture suggests to clean the floor? We are buying a house that has these tiles through out the whole house.
Thank You.
This is what I found…
“Do not use a steam cleaner. Do not wax. Make sure the cleaner you choose is an all-purpose liquid cleaner that is NON-ABRASIVE. We do
NOT RECOMMEND powdered cleaners, oil soaps, dishwashing detergents, or other dusting products.
Use a, biodegradable cleaner that leaves no residue or haze and requires no rinsing after application” -TrafficMASTER
