While browsing Pinterest, I found this really cool tutorial online at Scrap Shoppe, How to Make a Snowman out of a Sweater. So off to the thrift store I went to pick up a white sweater. I lucked out and found this really cool top hat toy and a really nice off-white sweater. I was so stoked!
Step One: Turn the sweater inside out. Remove both sleeves by cutting along the seam.
After removing the sleeves, cut across the sweater, armpit to armpit.
Step two: Gather the bottom of the sweater and tie with a rubber band or two.
Step three: After securing with rubber bands, turn sweater rights side out. Then, fill with stuffing.
After reaching as full or big you want your bottom to be, secure top with more rubber bands.
Step four: Remember the sleeves, you will need one for the head of your snowman. With sleeve turned inside out, cut across leaving it more of a rectangle and not so messy. Then gather one end and secure with rubber bands, just like you did with the other piece.
Step five: Turn the sleeve right side out and fill with stuffing.
Step six: Turn the stuffed sleeve upside down over gathered part of the outside of the bottom part of the snowman. So basically, if this was a pumpkin its stem would be inside of the sleeve right now.
Step seven: With a large rubber band secure the sleeve to the bottom. Make sure you’re securing the sleeve to the stem of the bottom as well as gathering the sleeve. You now have a head and body. Take a hot glue gun and glue the collar down along the top of the body. This will make your snowman more secure and lesson the risk his head being pulled off.
Step eight: Add two buttons for eyes and an orange triangle for a nose. To finish the look, wrap an old scarf around the snowman’s neck or create your own using felt.
Is he cute or what? Leave me a comment below.
