All last week my twins were away at camp. With the free time I had to burn, I decided to work on a project I have put off. The girls didn’t have a headboard for their bed because I had a plan. Since the girls were away it was the best time to get things going.
First I started with 2×4’s and a saw. Since I wasn’t working with a pattern I had a lot of wiggle room. I decided to make the letters two feet tall.
Then using my mad saw skills I cut the boards to create the letters of their first names.
I attached each section using handmade brackets, screws, and a few nails. So far so good.
I cut the left corner of the middle part of the “s” to match the rest of the letter. But I did that after I took this picture.
I then painted both letters a base coat of white paint. After the white paint was dry, I added the cute little zebra stripes using black paint.
After the paint dried it was time to hang the letters. I used wire and twisted paper ribbon that I untwisted to create a bow to hang the letters in their room.
I also painted two bulletin boards white to place next to their beds. (not pictured). I was so excited for my girls to come home from camp to see their new bed accents. I think they turned out so cute!
When the girls came home I sent them to put their things away and they were so surprised. They loved their new room accents.
I love little home decor project and even more sharing them with my friends. Thanks for stopping by!
