When I’m searching in blog universe for a recipe it’s really nice when a blog has a print friendly option. It’s really helpful to print the recipe and not a gazillion photos or their latest blog announcement. I mean, really, do you need everything? No way!
Once in a while I share recipes with my readers and I want to include that option for them. I checked out a few options online and I came across The Recipe Wiz. It’s really easy to use and it looks really great. Here let me show you…
When you click on The Recipe Wiz you’ll see a this:
First you will type in the date your post will go live, or if updating a previous post like this one, just type in the date. Next fill in the name of the recipe, the yield and the author.
Then, type in each of the ingredients and the amounts. To add additional ingredients click on the “add another ingredient button” and another set of boxes will magically appear. To remove a set of boxes just click on the red button with the “x” and it disappears.
Next, add the instructions inside of the instruction box.
Then inside of the Time box you will find 3 time settings, prep, cook and total time. When you click inside each of the time boxes a little menu drops down with an hour and minute slider to adjust each time setting. Set each one and then click done.
The image box allows you to include an image with your recipe. I skipped this feature to limit the amount of ink needed to print my recipes. You’re able to include a small or large image with your recipe. It’s totally up to you.
When you’re satisfied, click the Get Microdata (get code) button.
The above picture only shows a small portion of the code for this recipe. Highlight and copy the code.
Start your post like normal. I include an opening, photos and anything else I want to include in my recipe post. Then click on the “HTML” button and paste the code on the very bottom. Then, click on the “Compose” button. The recipe will appear at the bottom of your post.
You can still add a logo or alter anything that needs changed in the recipe. If you decide to add a logo or photo to your recipe, add the item below where it says print recipe. When the post goes live the “print recipe” will be located on the right side of the recipe. I added the Scrapality logo one space bellow where it says “print recipe”. To add an image use the Blogger add image button and adjust like usual. The recipe is easily edited using the regular Blogger controls. Click Save or Publish when finished.
After the post is live your readers can click on “print recipe” to print the recipe part of the post only. The rest of the post and photos above will not be included. Very cool!
Pretty easy, isn’t it? That’s all there is to it.
