While remodeling the kitchen I stopped to whip up an old favorite for dinner, Mac-n-Cheese. Mac-n-Cheese happens to be my youngest daughter’s favorite food. You can’t go wrong serving Mac-n-Cheese for dinner in my household. They dive right in and it’s gone before you know it.
I remember a time when my girls would only eat box Mac-n-Cheese. I’m a huge fan of homemade and I couldn’t make it unless I felt like eating the whole pan. I’m so glad they have outgrown the box version. Now, we can enjoy homemade version anytime we want.
Today, I’m sharing with you my recipe for Homemade Mac-n-Cheese. It’s a huge hit in our home and I hope it’ll be a hit in your home too. Thanks for stopping by, enjoy.
Homemade Mac-n-Cheese
1 pound of pasta
1/2 cup of flour
1/2 cup of butter
4 cups of milk
4 oz of shredded cheddar cheese
4 oz of sliced American cheese
1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp of salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 sleeve of Ritz crackers
Cook pasta according to package instructions.
Melt butter in a medium size pan. After butter has melted, add flour to butter. Slowly add milk while stirring to prevent lumps. When the milk mixture becomes hot add the cheeses while stirring. Remove from heat as soon as the cheese has melted completely.
Drain pasta and add to sauce. Mix to coat pasta with the cheese sauce. Pour mac-n-cheese into a well-greased pasta dish and top with crumbled Ritz Crackers.
Place Mac-n-Cheese into a 350-degree oven for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and serve.
