Combining two rooms to create one large room isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s a super dirty and lots of work. If you’re not up for the job or not sure how to pull it off, hire a pro. I consulted a home improvement friend of ours prior and during the entire process to ensure we were on the right track and to protect our home. I highly recommend you do your research and ask a pro prior to taking on something so important.
I added a piece of plywood to cover the end of the cabinet and the open end of the soffit.
As soon as the weather breaks and it’s warm enough to open the windows for the day, I plan to stain and distress the header.
I’m enjoying the open room. It’s amazing how different it looks and it will look so much nicer once it’s finished. I don’t feel claustrophobic while cooking in the kitchen and my family can move around freely. It’s awesome!
Next weekend I’m planning on painting the living room and my new kitchen. Fun! Fun! Fun!
