Fresh, hot and oh so yummy Strawberry French Vanilla Donuts. I am a total sucker for fresh donuts and a hot cup of coffee. I really can’t think of a better morning pick me up than that.
Instead of purchasing donuts from the local market I decided to try homemade donuts. I’ve seen a few homemade donut recipes on Pinterest and I’m intrigued with the donuts made from a cake mix. I had to give them a whirl.
I picked up a box of French Vanilla Cake Mix, strawberries, and heavy whipping cream.
I used the cake mix as the starting point. I then added three eggs and 1 cup of heavy whipping cream to the cake mix. After washing and dicing the strawberries, I gently added the berries to the mix.
Wilton carries a really cool donut pan. It makes homemade donuts super easy to make. To fill the donut pan, I added the mix by the spoonfuls. No special tools needed to fill the pan, just add the mix and that’s it.
Place pan in oven and bake for 10-12 min. After the donuts are done baking, I let them cool slightly prior to flipping them out of the pan. Then after they were cool I made a light sugar glaze using powdered sugar and water. Lightly dip the donuts in the glaze and let the glaze drip dry.
These donuts were a hit with my girls. Nothing like fresh berry donuts for breakfast. It’s a win!
I’ve included the instructions and recipe in a printable form below. Thanks for stopping by!
