I was so busy working on outside projects that I forgot to post an update on my kitchen cabinets. It’s funny how life sometimes gets out of hand.
I seem to have to many projects going at once. Yes, that’s a huge problem these days.
Anyways, on the days the weather wasn’t quite up to par or I just couldn’t handle the thought of sweating while working outside, I worked in the kitchen. The last time I posted an update of the kitchen was when I shared with you an awesome recipe for chalk paint.
After painting the cabinets I lightly distressed the cabinets using a sander.
I wasn’t happy with the color of wood in the distressed areas.
I headed to the hardware store and purchased a stain marker in the desired color of wood stain.
See the difference! I like the new color a whole lot better.
After cleaning up the dust and fingerprints, I added a few layers of Polycrylic to seal in the chalk paint.
Oh, and I added the pallet boards above and a few bellow for a pallet board back splash.
The kitchen is slowly taking shape.
Hopefully, next week I will finally have that kitchen island completed and ready to go. I can’t wait. It’s been on hold for a while now since the outside projects have stolen most of my spare time and attention.
All I can say is the island is drying. OK it’s also black, brown and includes pallet wood. But that’s all the hints you’re getting at this moment. Stop back to check out my new/old kitchen island.
Thanks for stopping by!
