Have you finished your Christmas shopping? I’m basically finished, besides baking madness and a few craft projects.
One of the craft projects this year is the Infinity Scarf. I’ve wanted to learn how to knit or crochet, but up until now I haven’t really tried to learn.
I stumbled upon a tutorial on Pinterest and that video tutorial changed everything. It looked super easy and only required yarn purchase. I love projects that don’t require a special tool. I mean, what if it doesn’t work out? What if this isn’t my thing? With arm knitting you only need your arms and a bulking thread. That’s it!
I decided to give it a go.
I purchased two skeins of yarn that were 30 yards in lenght. The length is very important. You need at least 30 yards of yarn to achieve a long enough scarf to wrap three times around the neck.
As I rewatched the video, I followed the steps one-by-one. First you cast on, then you begin to add stitches.
I followed the video and knitted away. So far so good.
The hardest parts were casting on and binding off. The stitching is easy. It took a few tries to finally get the hang of it. But, in the end it was well worth the effort.
Here’s my daughter, Shaniah, wearing the infinity scarf. She wrapped the scarf around her neck twice.
In this photo, Shaniah is wearing the same scarf, but it’s wrapped around her neck three times. It’s a fuller look then when wrapped twice.
I’m loving this look and I can’t wait to make more scarves.
Have you tried arm knitting? If you would like to learn, check out this video to learn how.
Give it a try today! Make a gift today and learn something new.
I’m sharing this project with a few awesome linky parties.
Thanks for stopping by!
Nicely done and quick too! Those scarves will make great gifts.
I’ve always wondered about this and have been interested to try. Seems like it goes pretty quick! Thanks for sharing the tutorial!
That looks really neat! I’ve seen finger knitting, but this is the first time I saw arm knitting. I’m going to pin this so I can try it later – don’t have any bulky yarn right now.
Very cool!
That turned out so pretty! How cool is that! No tools, I had no idea. Thanks for sharing with us at Home Matters Linky Party. Please be sure to come back next Friday! Pinning this to my Sewing board even though there is not Sewing required, that’s where I keep these cool projects. I want to make one!
