It’s a wonderful time to be outdoors. Well, as long as it’s not raining that is. Over the weekend it rained on and off all weekend.
I grabbed my tools and headed to the porch. It’s almost outdoors, right?
Remember, a few weeks ago I drove around looking for junk during our towns spring clean up. Well, I picked up a few headboards and footboards. I found a set of basic wood bunk beds that screamed my name. They were begging to become something new. I had to grab them and lug them home. Bunk beds equal two matching benches. Score!
I grabbed the bunk bed frames and started to build benches for the deck.
I gave them a good scrubbing and hosed them off. I then cut the footboard in half for the sides of the bench.
I attached the sides using carriage bolts. Next, I framed in the sitting area.
Finally, I added a few boards ontop of the frame and sanded the boards to remove all the splinters and hairy fibers.

Build and repeat!
Maybe some paint, stain or a few pillows?
Over the next few days I’ll be putting a few finishing touches to the deck. As long as everything works out we’ll be ready for a Memorial Day cook out. I can’t wait.
Stay tuned for more projects after the holiday.
Don’t forget to pin the image below for later.

Thanks for stopping by!
