If you were wondering what I was doing with my spare time while Scrapality.com was down for three weeks, the answer is simple.
We put in a pool.
It was a pleasant distraction. It kept me busy. I wasn’t sitting around wondering if I would have a blog to even come back to after it was fixed.
My kids wanted a pool really bad. But, I didn’t want to commit. With my girls are in high school, do I really want to put in a pool? And, what about the expense? Is it worth it? What if the girls move away after graduation. Will I use the pool if they don’t?
An Intex Pool is a for “now” pool. If in the future I decide I don’t want a pool, I don’t have to set it up. Easy!
Let’s do this…
We spent a lot of time removing topsoil and leveling the ground. It took forever! It was hot and the ground was crazy hard. Part of the area of the pool is where the old garage used to be. The ground was part sand and rock. That made it almost impossible to dig.
After a week or so of digging, it rained. And, rained. (sorry for the horrible picture)
While leveling, we were hit with a lot of rain. The space, that was soon to be a pool, filled with water. It was easy to see where the giant circle needed to be dug down a bit with all of the rain.
After the rain stopped and the water was gone, it was sand time. We added a inch or so of sand for a softer bottom.
A friend suggested we used fanfold to cover the floor of the pool for added protection against rocks.
An Intex Pool comes with a ground cover cloth. We covered the fanfold with the grond cover and started to assemble the pool per directions.
It was easy to set up. A lot easier then I thought it would be.
Next step was to fill the pool.
My daughter, Mariah, couldn’t wait any longer. She had to try it out.
It took everything I could to keep her out. But, in the end she won.
Now that the pool is full, my girls are ready for lots of fun in the sun.
Oh, and the day after we filled the pool, I received an email from tech support. My blog was back and ready to go.
What a pleasant surprise.
Do you have an Intex Pool? Love it or hate it? I would love to hear your thoughts below!
Thanks for stopping by.
This post was shared with a few amazing parties.
We had one many years ago before we put a built-in in the yard. It was great, we loved it and often joke that we should’ve just kept it and skipped the construction! Enjoy it!
Love our intex pool!! I think we have the same one, four feet? It’s so easy to put together and fill up!! We just bought a solar cover this year to make the water a little warmer and keep the bugs out! Hours of fun in the sun from this pool making it worth every penny! I am so glad thast you shared your story on Making Memories Mondays!! See you Sun night 9PM est when the fun begins again!!
Cathy
It is super easy to put together. We really could use a solar cover this year, but that will have to wait till next year. Thanks for commenting!
Our neighbors have a pool like this and I hear them using it a lot. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
