Over the last couple of years, I’ve used pallets to build things I needed or simply wanted.
When I started, I knew very little about how to build a building, deck or cabinets. I started with an idea in my head and just went with it. No plans. No instructions. I just made it happen.
My husband couldn’t help me because he couldn’t see inside my head. His idea or vision didn’t match mine. We were on totally different sides on everything.
Sometimes he would jump in and give me a hand and other times he would just stay out of my way. Either way, it was my vision.
We really needed a shed. I wasn’t about to spend $6,000 on a brand new shed.
I researched online for a shed idea and even though I loved a lot of the sheds online it wasn’t really what I wanted.
I wanted a shed that looked old as though it had been there for years. I wanted a wrap around porch with windows and doors. My husband thought I was crazy!

I started looking for old doors and windows during our spring cleanup in our town. (The whole town places their unwanted items on the curb and the city picks them up and hauls them away for free) After finding those items, it was time to build the shed. I built the shed around those items. It took a while, but the finished result was awesome.
It was exactly what I wanted.

The pallet deck. I really wanted a deck on the back of the house. So again, I searched and couldn’t find what I wanted. I wanted something different. Not just a deck but more of a work of art.
I was in love with the chevron pattern and I thought what an awesome pattern for a deck.
So I went for it. It took a ton of pallets and a lot of work. The different cuts took forever.

But, in the end it was awesome!

The pallet wall wasn’t something I needed, it was just something I wanted. When we bought the house we had to replace the drain to the upstairs bathroom. The repairman had to cut a huge hole in the living room wall. Afterwards we tried to cover the wall with paneling, but it didn’t look right.
When I searched online I found a few pallet walls and off I went. The pallet wood covered the walls perfectly. It was gorgeous and rustic. It was perfect!

Sorry, the above photo isn’t the greatest.
The pallet cabinet was a fabulous way to store all types of kitchen items. My kitchen was so small and had no storage. It was a nightmare. That’s why I built the wall cabinet.
I built the cabinet without plans or instructions. I just went with it. I was so proud of myself when it was all finished. This was my second pallet project and the first thing I actually built. My husband was impressed and stopped doubting me. Finally.
If there is a need, build it. If there is something you want, make it. It’s all up to you. If I can do this, so can you!
I’m going to leave you with those thoughts.
Thanks for stopping by.
