- Add a garbage chute in your kitchen
We make a lot of mess during cooking. In fact, after we’re done, most of the stuff will end up in a garbage can. This includes vegetable and fruit peels, bones, packages etc. As a way to make your life a lot easier, you can install garbage chute in your kitchen. This way, you can immediately dispose of any trash making your workspace that much cleaner.
- Add shelves above the kitchen countertop
You probably have spices such as salt and pepper on your countertop. But, you can also add some other ingredients and spices (which are commonly used) without drastically affecting your kitchen design. All you have to do is add several shelves just above your countertop. There is no need to go back and forth opening cabinets and drawers when you can have everything at the tip of your hands.
- Utilize the space bellow the staircase
This area is probably the least utilized part of your home. As you can presume, this is really disastrous as it wastes space. Families usually make storage out of it but you can do so much more with this area. For example, you can an in-house dog kennel. It can also be an area for your kids. All you have to do is place a small screen on the bottom part of the staircase and they will immediately have their own area outside their room and closer to you.
- Using the furniture
We usually think in squares: this closet will take this square; this sofa will take so much space etc. Instead of thinking in such a manner, you can redefine these “squares”. For example, you can add bookshelves around your sofa making the joint area that much bigger. You can combine several pieces of furniture together completely redefining the space they would otherwise take.
- Inground living room
The best way to make your living room cozier is to make an inground living room. Make a hole in the middle of the room and put furniture inside of it. This will make conversation that much more enjoyable.
- Interactive backyard area
If you have a pool, it would be a good idea to add some TVs around it. This will create a multimedia experience and area where an entire family can gather. It is especially great during the summer when you invite friends to a ball game.
- Cover the pump
Nowadays, a lot of homes have pumps. Whether we are talking about sewage pumps, pool pumps or water pumps, they are an important part of your household. Unfortunately, they look really ugly and out of place. A good solution is to create wooden boxes around them.
- Add sliding doors to your bathroom
Depending on the size of your bathroom, doors can pose a real problem. In case you have limited space, opening the door inwards can limit the already small space you have at your disposal. So, get sliding door instead.
- In-wall bathroom shelves
Soap holders and other bathroom accessories can be really troublesome. They can be especially problematic within bathroom stalls as they take a lot of additional space preventing yours from turning properly. As a solution, you can create dents within a wall where you can put all the bathroom necessities such as soap, bathroom gel, shampoo etc.
All of us are dealing with the small household issue. There is always space for improvement and ways to make our living space more functional. With these simple tips, you can find just the thing that will make your house more livable and pleasing.
