When it comes to entertainment at home, Roy Morgan Research reveals that Australians still watch more TV than use the Internet. An average Aussie actually watches TV five hours more than using the Internet at home. Given such findings, it is clear that despite the versatility of the Internet, most folks still enjoy the more traditional source of home entertainment.
Some people say that the problem with the Internet is not about the amount of content it provides but rather how it allows for “simultaneous” content consumption. You can be watching a video while also reading an article in a different tab whose website offers links to other interesting content. Such dynamics prevent viewers from fully engaging with one thing.
Meanwhile, with TV, it is so much easier to find that one particular show to keep your attention on. Even with all the channels that you can flip through, you simply have to zone in on just one. You have to abandon all the other options and focus on that single show to entertain you for a certain length of time.
Also, TV is a better option when you want to create a routine for home entertainment. TV programming is simply more consistent and reliable.
Consider Satellite TV
If you still find great joy in TV watching, you can actually elevate your experience by tapping into even more options. The best way to do that is by investing in satellite TV. A satellite dish will be installed on your property and it will transmit more programs to the “magic box.”
There are other reasons why you should consider this option to have a more enjoyable entertainment system for your home, and five of them are listed below:
1. Better picture and sound quality
Programming through a direct broadcast satellite (DBS) provider is completely digitized which creates higher resolution images and clearer audio.
Likewise, satellite TV has a wider selection of national HD channels compared to cable TV. Therefore, if you want more channels with superior visual quality, satellite TV is definitely the way to go.
2. A better bang for your buck
When you do the math, you will find that you actually save a bit more money using a satellite TV than typical cable TV. Satellite TV packages tend to offer a better dollar-to-channel ratio.
Plus, when it comes to the most basic package, meaning fewer channels, no premium channels, and no HD channels – satellite TV packages tend to be cheaper.
3. Your home location is never an issue
If you live in a remote location and your home is surrounded by “earth,” satellite TV is simply the better option. With satellites up in the sky transmitting signals to the Earth, you do not have to worry about common range obstructions that distort broadcast signals.
Or, if you live in a mobile home and you are constantly moving from one place to another. Satellite TV truly is your only option for good quality, regular TV programming.
4. “Recovers” faster after a weather disturbance
Since transmitting satellites are clearly out of the way of destruction caused by weather, it is so much easier to get reception back from them after a natural disaster.
Once the weather has cleared and your home has electricity restored after a shutdown, it is usually faster to get a signal for TV viewing from your satellite dish than from your cable service. Cable companies normally will still deal with repairs for land connections, and all this work takes a longer time to complete.
5. And lastly, you can take advantage of wild feeds
Satellite TV is ideal for techies and sports fans because it allows them to catch signals for everything from live sports events, news and even syndicated programs.
A popular magazine even provides information on how to take advantage of these wild feeds. However, the C-band radio has to be turned on in order to find the “gold mine” signals for shows that are not part of the regular programming of the DBS provider.
If all the reasons discussed above completely align with your preferences or requirements, contact your local DBS provider and make the switch now.
