Wouldn’t it be good if your home looked like one of the show homes that you see when you are looking to buy new property? Generally, these homes are decorated and fitted by the real experts in the industry in order to put the best quality work into the home that they hope to use to entice others to purchase. This doesn’t have to be a dream though and there is no reason why you cannot look to have this sort of style in the current home you live in. It may take some effort and money but once it is done – you will be proud to bring the neighbors over to see. We have collected some of the stylish tips that you may wish to consider.
Stenciling
If you have bare walls in the home, why not look to bring a little bit of color and energy into it by adding some stenciling. This fad seems to have taken off a lot in the last decade and a lot of homes now have this stylish look. Stenciling can be on the walls in any room and is not just unique to one room type. If you go online you will find lots of different examples of how people have stenciled in living rooms, kitchens and bathrooms. Take some time out to review what others have done and it may spark some ideas in your head. Don’t be scared to think outside the box and do something new! When doing this, remember that if you mess it up then it is there for good unless you paint over it. If not 100% sure on doing the task, maybe ask someone to support you that has did this before that has the experience – at least its someone to blame if it doesn’t go to plan!
Kitchen Refurb
One of the places that people focus on in a home seems to always be the kitchen. It seems to the place that people get together in (if the size allows it) and have a get-together. Gone are the days when everyone relied on the lounge. If your kitchen is old and worn it may be worth having a makeover. This won’t be a cheap task however if you shop around you can get great value kitchen worktops in many retailers. Don’t compromise on quality though if you are looking to get a refurb as you want the kitchen to be sustained for many years without it requiring it to be refreshed again. When doing this, you can definitely consider factors such as appliances that you have and how you may wish to consider integrating them into the kitchen furniture – for example, dishwashers and fridges. If you are going for a full-blown kitchen refurb project then this could be a large project that needs professionals to come and quote it for you. Think it out properly in advance and ensure that you get quotes from several people/companies.
Lighting
You may not think you get a lot from lighting but don’t underestimate it. In the home, the lighting can help determine the “mood” in certain rooms. For example, if you are in an office and looking to be alert and active you would have bright lights however if you are in the bedroom looking to relax and go for a sleep you wouldn’t want them to be as powerful. Forgetting the lux level that is omitted from the lights (as you could control this via a dimmer switch if you choose) the actual lights and light shades can be influenced quite easily by you. If you go to a dedicated lighting store, you will find all sorts of innovative and creative solutions. These types of stores are extremely mind-boggling as you will be overwhelmed with choice. This is another one of these times where you may wish to think slightly differently about your potential choices and not go for the same standard lights you normally would go for. Be adventurous and go for something new!
Wall Hangings
People have different taste and what they hang on their walls may not be what others would choose. For example, some people may choose to hang lots of pictures of their family members, others may choose to have shelves with ornaments and others may actually choose to have it as bare as possible. Some stylish solutions may include adding some local artwork to the walls. Art is generally appreciated and if you have a good painting on the wall, you will be sure to want to show it off. Consider looking at not the standard sort of pictures but maybe some more modern art that thrives in colors and brings some energy to the room where it will hang.
