One of the first things people will say when you mention that you are moving home is that it is one of the most stressful things you can do in life. That may be true to a certain extent, but there are many things we can do to reduce the stress of actually moving home, regardless of whether you are buying, renting or moving in with family. Start with writing everything down and making sure everything is organized with the right companies. Utilities and banks need to be informed as soon as possible of course, but what else needs to be thought about before the big day?

Declutter
Moving home can be a great fresh start for you, and it can be a brilliant opportunity to declutter and make sure everything is thrown away or recycled that is no longer needed. Moving clutter to the new house is only a waste of time and resources. A good idea is to go through everything in the current home and be ruthless, you can throw away the unusable items, sell anything unwanted but still usable, and pack up the things you want to move with you. If everything is organized before the move, then you will find it’s easier to unpack once everything is moved.
Packing
Of course, you need to pack, it goes without saying that your belongings need to be packed safely and securely, but it’s also essential that you don’t pack too many large boxes that will become too heavy to move either. Another way to stay organized is to make sure all the boxes are labeled, and not just by room, making sure you have some sort of idea about what is inside the box when you get to the other side will be time and stress saving for everyone.
Hire A Removals Company
There is an option for you to hire a van and move everything yourself, but on moving day, it can save a world of stress and anxiety if you have a safe, insured furniture removalist on your side. That gives you the time to concentrate on everything else rather than heavy work. Ultimately it depends on your budget, but if you can make things easier for yourself, you’re going to have a better start in your new home. No matter what your plans are, and how far away you’re moving, you will need to be organized, and removals companies will help you stay organized and on track.
Essentials Box
One thing you will thank yourself for is organizing a little essentials box, to help with packing. In the box for packing, you should include the following-
- Pen and paper
- Scissors
- Black Marker
- Sellotape
- Tape Measure
- Box Cutter
These items will all be things you’re going to need to pack everything effectively. Carry this little box with you at all times and packing will speed up significantly unless you lose the end of the sellotape!
Moving home really doesn’t have to be as stressful as people say it is, you will, of course, come up against some challenges along the way, but as with anything worthwhile in life, it’s not easy.
