The home is a vital aspect of all of our lives. It is the one place in the world that you should be able to go and feel completely free to be you. Entering a home that no longer represents you or who you feel you should be, could be adding to your problems instead of helping you find a solution. If a weight drops on you when you go home, you need to do something about it. There are many tried and tested ways to reanimate your home so it adds to your personality rather than detracts from it. The good news is none of them have to break the bank. Here are some ideas to help you:
Out with the old
The first thing you need to do is get rid of all the old junk, all the broken things, and anything you have which no longer inspires you. In fact, many possessions in the home can be pulling your back into the past, adding anxiety. It would help if you let go of anything holding you back and keeping you in a negative mental state. Perhaps you could sell some things, or give them to charity shops or second-hand stores. But you need to declutter your space. You need as blank a canvas as possible on which to start adding your personality.
Play with color
The first thing to consider is the walls. Adding color to a blank wall, or lightening up a dark wall, will start to make the home feel more alive. You could have two walls one color, the other two, and they can be any color of your choosing. In addition, you may want to think about adding stencils or wall decals. This will add more life. The great thing with pain is that you can change it at any time. You may, over time, fill in the stencils, so the home evolves as you do. It does not need to stay static. Color is a great way to refresh a room.
Upgrade
You may want to think about knocking a wall down to open up a kitchen living space. Think about upholstering furniture. You could sand down an old tired wardrobe and paint it up. How about having a Furnace Installation, this will be great when those cold winter nights come along.
Mix and Match
You could get some patterned throws to go over the sofa. Try out lots of patterns, a mishmash of patterns, the more, the merrier. If you are a creative person, the house could become a source of inspiration where lots of different colors and patterns may help you invent something. Go out to second-hand stores and buy something strange and exotic, something that speaks to your soul.
Gallery wall
It may be an idea to go out and buy lots of framed pictures and canvases and fill up a dull wall with them. They could be some of your favorite quotes, images you like, or photos of your friends and family printed.
