There are many amazing reasons to be in a relationship. Now only have you got someone who knows you inside out and still loves you anyway, but you have a best friend to spend most of your time with.
As an adult, we also want to start thinking about our health and wellbeing. It is important for us to try and stay healthy for a long time during life and being in a relationship can help us to do just that.
When there is another person in our life that wants us to live for longer and makes us happy, we live for longer and we look after ourselves. Here are the top ways that a partner can actually better your health.
Live for longer
The first point in favour of being in a relationship is the fact that it will increase your lifespan. It has been shown in many studies that those who are married live for longer than those who are single. There can be several reasons for this, one of which is that loneliness can be a killer. As well as this, a partner can be there to guide us through the hardest parts of life so that if we fall into a bad habit such as alcohol or drugs, our partner will be there to support us with couples’ inpatient drug rehab and other support to help us pull through. A partner will protect us and look after us always and that is what we need in life.
Recovery time drops
Have you ever heard the scientific fact that when a plant is constantly told that it is beautiful it will grow bigger and stronger than one that is told the opposite? A similar idea can be used for us. When we are in an accident or we have an injury, a support network of people who love us can help us to recover quicker. If during your recovery time you have a partner telling you that you will be fine and looking after you, your body will health quicker.
Being in love is the best feeling in the world. When we are in love we release happy hormones into our body on a regular basis, and this makes us happier people all in all. As well as this, when we are in love we are much less stressed. When we feel less stress this does several things for our health, including the lowering of our blood pressure. Stress is a leading cause of high blood pressure and it can become a huge health risk. So when we have lower blood pressure, we also have a lower risk of heart disease as well as blood clots!
A strong immune system
Following on from the point about, stress can also cause other problems in our body. One of those problems is a lower immune system. If the immune system becomes weak it will no longer protect us against bugs and we are likely to become ill. However, when we have a partner who makes us happy, our stress levels drop and the immune system becomes stronger.
