It’s always nice to be able to work on your home, isn’t it? After all, it’s somewhere that you spend virtually all of your time. And, right now, that’s certainly the case. So, it’s a lovely idea to make sure that you get to look after it a little and spruce it up. We all know that you generally need to decorate the house every so often, but life can be so busy that you don’t always get around to it. And so, when you’re faced with some time in the house, it’s something that you consider doing. And when you get really stuck into transforming the rooms in your house, it can be a lot of fun. So maybe now is the perfect time for you to do just that?
However, the question you may have right now is where should you start? Because your house is a big task – no matter how small you may think it is. And, you have the interiors to consider, but then also the outside space too. So maybe you want to begin by getting outside and giving that a tidy up ready for summer? Or maybe you want to think about getting a room ready for a relative to come and stay in? There are definitely lots of different projects you can consider doing – both big and small. But maybe you want to get started with one of these fun and simple ways to spruce your home.
- Have A Spring Clean
To start with, one of the best ways to start working on your home is to have a big clean. Now, this isn’t always going to be seen as fun for everyone – but it sure is satisfying. If you love to clean, then you’re probably excited to start your spring cleaning anyway. If not, get some guidance and go slow – there’s no rush. But usually, getting started is all you need to do and before you know it, it’ll be done.
- Declutter
Then, you’re going to want to declutter. Because we all know how easy it is to accumulate things that you don’t really want or need. But you save them for a rainy day. So, sometimes it’s nice to be able to go through everything and donate or recycle the things you don’t need.
- Rearrange Furniture
From here, something fun and simple can be to change up the furniture. This is always fun to do. When you’re bored of a room, changing it around a little can give it a new lease of life. And, right now, if you’re tired of looking at the same four walls, it’s really nice to be able to make it feel like a brand new room. Figure out the best way to arrange the furniture and start experimenting. There’s always a way to make the room look better.

Maybe you’re not really in the mood to go through a whole huge decorating project right now, but maybe you like the idea of making a few tweaks? You could paint just one room to give it a new lease of life. Or you could even just paint one wall for the same effect.
- Change A Purpose
The next thing you could do is look to change the purpose of a room. Sometimes we have spare rooms dedicated to guests or even storage. But what’s the fun in that? Maybe you even have a basement or garage or attic collecting dust? Then give it a new purpose. You could create a small home gym or a snug to watch movies in? It can seem like a challenge but also be a lot of fun.
- Upcycle Old Stuff
We all love a good project – especially when we’re a little bored and in need of some entertainment. So maybe now is a great time to start an upcycling project. Do you have some old furniture you’d like to change? Stripping it back and painting it could work perfectly.
- Fix Up Old Stuff
Now, we all know that from time to time, things get broken. Yet, in everyday life, we don’t always know how to fix them up. Nor do we have time. So they get left – or you wait for someone else to come and help. But why not try and fix things yourself? It could be that you need to look online for the equipment, like Westinghouse oven parts, to get started. Then, you can use a YouTube video to try and help you repair everything you need.
- Make Some Art
This is something that you could do alone or with the whole family, but it could be fun to make some art. Maybe you want some new pieces to decorate your walls? Then why not think about creating something fun yourself to display around the house?

Something that could be incredibly relevant right now, and also fun to create, is a home office. Maybe you need to work from home right now and you’d like a set space? Or maybe you want to be able to have somewhere to write or work from, that’s just for you? Then, setting up a shop and allocating somewhere for your own little office could just be perfect. - Get The Kids Involved
Finally, because you have a lot more time now, and the kids are home so it’s nice to get them involved too. You’ll soon start to hear the words ‘I’m bored’ a lot more – so why not involve them in more projects? It can be fun to see their take on decorating and what they’d maybe like to contribute? The best places here are their rooms or playroom. After all, it’s nice for them to be able to have some input in what their space looks like!
