Sure, some of us are a little apathetic as there are a lot of other things to worry about in life, but if we had a choice, we’d elect to be fit and healthy every single time. We’re well into spring, and before long, it’s going to be summertime – so now’s about time to get a little fitter for the sun. Well, in all honesty, the time was about three or four months ago, but who wants to work out and be disciplined in the drearier months?
This coronavirus is keeping us indoors a little longer than we’d like to be, but it hopefully won’t be forever, and the summer months will hopefully be full of joy and socializing! If you’ve ever tried to get yourself into better shape, then you’ve probably learned that it’s quite a struggle – especially when you don’t really know the best way(s) of doing it. If you are, in fact, a fitness newbie, then here are a few things you’ll want to do in order to be satisfied in a few months’ time:
Before you even make a move physically, you should probably get yourself into the right headspace. Once you get training, it’s pretty easy to motivate yourself, but the initial steps tend to be challenging for the majority of people – especially those that are solely interested in getting a better look!
If you’re quite motivated but not really that bothered in terms of getting off your backside, then you’re going to have to amend that way of thinking and feeling, aren’t you? One of the best things to do is to envision things in the near future. Imagine being in the heart of July – how are you looking and feeling? If you don’t want to continue as you are in around four months’ time, then that should be enough for you to hop into a gym and get working. Another way of motivating yourself is to soak up all the fitness-related content you possibly can. It’ll get you into the mood!
Join A Gym!
When people think about getting in better shape, the gym is often the go-to place for them. If you’ve already signed up for one, then you won’t have to read much of this part. If you haven’t already and haven’t really thought about it, then you might want to change your thought process a little. Light exercises and eating right is a great way of losing weight and/or building muscle, but a gym environment adds to the fit mentality that you’re trying to constantly work on. The people around you will push you further, and you’ll just feel a lot more involved in your project. When you’re running around the block or exercising at home, it can get pretty boring. You might even quit after a few days because you’re too comfy in your relaxing home.
Look Up How It’s All Done!
If you’re literally just starting out, then you probably don’t have much of a clue about how to do everything. Don’t worry; it’s all pretty straightforward. It’s just a case of getting a few basic rules under your sleeve. Nutrition and exercising can be a little tedious, but constant work and studying will result in full understanding.
Use Supplements If Needed
If exercising and eating correctly still isn’t getting you exactly what you need, then you could also buy a few supplements and take them along with your meals. The key here is that they are supplements, remember – not substitutes for meals. That’s an important point to make; you still need to eat what you’re eating. One of the best ways to constantly make little improvements every month is by setting little challenges for yourself – challenges that you can achieve. When we have little goals in front of us, we suddenly get a boost of motivation. When we have nothing but a small idea, it’s difficult to care too much. We love ticking boxes and achieving things, so make little achievable goals and beat them!
Don’t Become Obsessed!
This is vitally important. If you look at yourself all the time and check your progress literally every day, then you’re not going to see much movement. Sure, we have to look at ourselves all the time in order to check we’re looking presentable, but do your best not to care what you look like during the process. This counterintuitive approach will work in your favor because you’ll be focusing on more important things.
