Make sure you’re ready for the baby’s arrival. After labor and delivery, multiple inspections to make sure the baby is breathing, and sleepless nights, the last thing you want is to realize you are without some of the items most important to the baby’s care. Stock up now, ensuring the 10 items below are available for baby in the nursery when the time arrives.
1- Bottles

Whether you plan to breastfeed or formula feed, baby bottles ensure the baby receives his nutrition when you’re at home, at the supermarket, and elsewhere. Choose quality bottles that prevent air seepage, which can cause air bubbles that upset the baby’s sensitive tummy.
Four-ounce bottles work best for newborns. Move up to the nine-ounce bottles as the baby grows and his appetite increases. Most parents find smaller bottles easier to manage while transitioning to parenthood with a tiny baby.
2- Crib
Your baby needs a safe place to sleep. Cosleeping is never recommended because it increases the instances of SIDs related deaths. Choose a quality crib mattress that meets all current safety standards to accommodate the crib.
Never buy a used crib. Not only is it illegal to sell a used crib, but it may also be unsafe for babies. Missing parents, broken pieces, and recalled components are a few of the concerns associated with buying a used crib. Don’t take that risk.
3- Baby Monitor
Monitoring a baby 24/7 is impossible, but every new parent understands the fear they feel when leaving the baby’s side, especially during those early weeks of life. A baby monitor puts parents’’ minds at ease, giving them a sneak peek at the baby in his nursery no matter where they’re at in the home.
4- Receiving Blankets
A receiving blanket is a perfect size to swaddle a new baby. Purchase several receiving blankets; you’ll use them all. Receiving blankets double as changing pads, burp cloths, and many other necessities you may not have on hand.
5- Breast Pump
New moms need a breast pump to pump milk after the baby’s arrival. Even new moms with no intentions to breastfeed need to pump milk to prevent breast swelling and tenderness. Moms who plan to breastfeed find that pumps make this job much easier.
Manual and electric breast pumps provide mums with their choice of pumping techniques. Electric models cost more money but are easier to use and provide quicker results.
6- Infant Car Seat
Baby needs an infant car seat before he or she can travel in any motorized vehicle. It is the law and it keeps your precious cargo safe and out of harm’s way. Infant car seats face toward the rear of the vehicle which protects the baby in the event of an accident.
The seats contain a detachable base and a carrier. Click the carrier out of the base when you need to take the baby out of the car.
7- Pram
When you’re out and about, carrying a baby around can wear you out quickly. The alternative is to buy prams online and leave this worry behind. Baby prams give the baby his own safe, comfortable seat to ride along in as mum and dad take care of all of life’s duties. There is a harness inside the pram that ensures the baby’s safety.
8- Diaper Bag
Changing a baby’s diaper when away from home is tricky. You need several supplies and a clean space to change the diaper. Carry a diaper bag on those things to ease diaper change headaches. Diaper bags hold diapers, ointment, wipes, and diaper changing pads so that every outing is simple.
Most diaper bags contain extra room and space that holds other items like bottles or sippy cups, teethers, rattles and toys, pacifiers, and other items. Bags designed for girls and those with girl designs are available.
9- Baby Carrier
Parents can ‘wear’ their baby with a baby carrier. Comfortable carriers fit over the shoulders and back and allow the baby to sit inside the carrier as he is carried around. Carriers are perfect for growing, heavy babies.
Wearing a carrier gives parents time to complete chores or other tasks without the worry about a wandering baby or other concerns with their little one.
10- Onesies
A baby onesie is a one-piece outfit that snaps at the crotch. This clothing item is a favorite for new parents. They’re easy and convenient to put on baby, to unfasten when it’s time for diaper changes, and all types of weather.
Onesies come in assorted styles and designs for babies of all ages. They’re cheap and fun. Make sure a large supply of onesies is on hand for all occasions.
