With the world going down an uncertain path and one bad thing happening after another, the year has been quite a roller coaster. Not only has it left us confined to our homes, but it has also disrupted our way of life in a way that we now see different things changing. Concerts are being held online, jobs are done from home, and students are attending school online.
Pretty much everything we knew is changing, leading to a lot of physical and mental anguish. In the few months that are left, you need to turn things around for yourself, and one way to do that is to be kinder to yourself. Here mentioned below are a few things you can do and salvage the few months of 2020 we have left.

Take out time for yourself:
With so much time on our hand in the current condition, you might think, “all I do is give myself time.” However, that’s not what I mean. When was the last time you were in a room without your phone or Netflix or video games? All of that has pretty much become our daily routine.
So, to be kinder to yourself, you must take some time out for yourself. Leave the gadgets at home, go for a walk, sit in the window, think about your dreams, or nap.
Give yourself a pat on the back:
The current condition has got most of us gloomy and depressed. We are consuming content on the internet more vigorously than ever before. That has led to low self-esteem in most of us. Whether its body image or someone’s success, we often let other people’s lives overshadow our accomplishments.
So what if you’ve managed to lose only a few pounds? So what if you haven’t read as many books as the next person? Whether it’s one pound or one book, give yourself a pat on the back. These are challenging times, and everyone is processing things in their own due time.
Don’t compare yourself:
We often find ourselves putting ourselves down with nothing else to do and a lifestyle that revolves around social media. Despite the world coming to a halt, those with better resources haven’t seen that significant change in their lifestyle, which gives them a sense of normalcy.
Just because the year hasn’t been as fruitful for you doesn’t mean that it never will be. So stop comparing yourself, stop comparing your gains or losses to others because the truth is, no two lives are the same. You are your person destined for greatness in due time.
Learn to forgive yourself:
With so much time on our hands and isolation, one is bound to wind up in a dark place sooner or later. Whenever you do, know that it is okay to forgive yourself. Learn to evolve and leave bad experiences or memories behind. Give yourself the same courtesy you would give someone you love. To be kinder and start loving yourself, you should first learn to forgive.
Let loose a little:
With all the political uproar, the protests, and the pandemic, it is obvious that you will be overwhelmed by everything at some point. So, know that while you may feel deeply for everything that is happening out there, it is recommended that you let loose from time to time.
Just because you can’t go outside doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t enjoy yourself. A great way to do so is to try Skookum weed. You can easily get it online, and it will surely give you the high you need to relax.
Pamper yourself:
With so much negativity around us, we often get so caught up in things that we don’t think of ourselves. Always take out time to pamper yourself. Take a long hot bath, read a book you’ve meant to read for a long time, or order take out and live a little.
Know that you need to take care of your physical and mental health if you want to function efficiently once this lockdown is over.
Invest in yourself:
With all this time on your hand, you should start investing in yourself. Whether it’s something you’ve meant to learn for a long time, a skill you always wished you had, a creative ability you adored others for, now is your time to shine.
Take online classes, hire online tutors, and try to invest in your growth. As Bebe Rexha said in the end, it’s just “Me, Myself and I.”
Have faith in yourself:
Apart from that, it would be best if you also had faith in yourself. Know that nothing will work unless you do so. It would be best if you were your cheerleader, believe that you can acquire a new skill, learn a new language, have a productive lifestyle, and, most of all, think that things will get better.
Be compassionate to yourself:
A general saying is “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” however, in current times, I think the saying needs to be the other way around, “Do unto you as you would do unto others.” In the world we live in, we have more love, compassion, and care for those around us than ourselves.
That is something that needs to change if you want to live more peacefully. If you’ve made a mistake, let it go, if you did something embarrassing, laugh it off, show yourself the same compassion you would go to a dear friend.
Strive towards your dreams
With the world taking a break from fast-paced life, you have all the time in the world to strive towards your goals, so don’t let anything go to waste and make the most of this time that you have been awarded due to the pandemic. We often think less of ourselves when we don’t accomplish the things we wanted too, and mostly we blame the lack of time.
So, now since all you have is time in the world, it’s time to use it productively and achieve your goals.
