It is true that football is one of the most famous sports and followed by a large percentage of citizens from anywhere in the world. Some more fanatical than others obviously, and this sport has become very popular because of the high emotion and union that it represents for some that their teams play within a world cup.
So it’s more than usual to see anyone who considers himself a big fan carrying such merchandise every time they go to a game or go out for a walk, whether in sweaters, scarves, hats or T-shirts. However, the only problem with all this great fanaticism that exists is that these football shirts are costly.
Many fans (and even non-fans) don’t understand the reason, which is that it’s a bit difficult to know when you don’t know the reasons why a shirt can be so expensive when it’s printed with a football team’s logo when it’s an outfit you could get at any store or mall.
However, when you look more closely at their why and wherefore, it is a little easier to understand the whole process involved in making the original football jerseys more expensive than any other garment, whether within brand name stores or retail stores.
Why are they so expensive?
One of the reasons why these shirts are so expensive is that football is not only a popular sport but also a global scale. With the popularity it has gained, it has given the possibility of becoming a whole business from which you can reap enormous profits if you know how to move around.
In this way, it is more feasible and beneficial for the brands, which coexist within this magnificent world of sport, launch a new team shirt now and then cause a great furor in the fans.
However, not all football shirts cost the same. It will depend not only on the team but also on the popularity and demand of the buyer. This aspect thus indirectly influences the final price of this product.
A second reason that can link to the first reason is the vast sponsorship that the shirts. Or rather the team receive; the brands want to appear on the shirts of the organizations they sponsor and therefore pay the right price to then sell them at a price that allows them to recover what they have invested in these shirts.
Added to this is the fact that these brands pay more than one club to use their brand image or logo, which indirectly affects the shirts long before they sold.
Other reasons why T-shirts are expensive
Supply and demand also play a vital role in this world. Because there is a high demand from fans, companies take the opportunity to put a price on their profits to recover money that has been invest, as indicated above.
Even the arrival of this merchandise in the various clothing stores that may be in a country affects the final price of these football shirts because they also want to earn a percentage of what they will sell so as not to lose what they invest in getting those shirts.
Then, the price established by the buyers does not contemplate the VAT, so at the moment of making the purchase, the final cost of the t-shirt increases a little more.
Also, every football team designs a new shirt every season, either for their fans or for the players to display the new design at the football matches they have to play.
These are some of the reasons why these t-shirts come at a higher price than you expect, unlike other stores that might have within their stock (or inventory) a much cheaper replica of these famous shirts that come out every year.
Do you or do you not buy football shirts?
As much as these football shirts coveted by any good fan of their favorite team, one must consider that a great effort must do to save up and buy the official team shirt sold in brand name stores.
For many people, buying one of these T-shirts means an expense that they did not plan for, and that could affect their daily lives when they buy food, pay for electricity, the internet, or other public services.
Added to this is the fact that not every football fan is a fan and decides to spend money on much more merchandise than their favorite team needs, which is why they choose to do without new football shirts that they update year after year remains the same. One shirt is enough for them.
So it can be concluded that these expenses will depend on each fan’s needs, requirements, and desires because it will not always be feasible for them to make such a huge and unexpected loss.
