One stressful event that most people experience at least once in a lifetime is “Moving Day”. A sure-fire way to ensure a smooth move is to get organized and packed early. Also, choose a good moving company in the area. For example, if located in Fort Worth, Texas, then one should get a Fort Worth moving company. Not any fort worth moving company but the best. 1 – Set that alarm clock early. One needs to get the show on the road with an early start although all items should already be packed and organized. This is because a last-minute thing to do will always pop up. Giving enough time before the movers come will circumvent any uncalled-for stress.
– As mentioned before, while most things will already be packed and organized, there will always be those last-minute things. For example, the last-minute bathroom items after the morning shower and any perishables items in the kitchen.
– One last sweep of the house before the movers arrive will be necessary to ensure nothing is left behind. Checking storage spaces, closets, cabinets; along with attics and basements should be part of the final check for anything that could be missed in the initial packing and organizing.
– The movers should be greeted. Make sure to welcome the movers and show them around the house with a walk through pointing out any packed fragile items or boxes. Also, show them any items that may need to be disassembled. The packed items and boxes should be clearly marked and labeled and discussed. Have water on hand and be sure that the walkthrough included showing where the bathroom is located for use if the movers need it.
– Hang around and watch the move to ensure that the movers do not have any questions.
Also, moderating can give one peace of mind. Any valuable items should not be kept with the movers but with the owner at all times.
– Do the very last final sweep by checking the house one more time. One may have garbage to get rid of or may have to do some cleaning. A cleaning company should be considered or getting some friends to help would be a good idea. Once done ensure to turn off all lights and lock doors for the last time. Once this last sweep is done, head to the new residence.
– Upon making it to the new house ensure the movers are given a quick walk-through to show them what items and boxes will go in the different rooms of the new house. Again, show the bathroom. Hopefully, the new house has already been prepared by being cleaned and carpet protectors being in place if needed for the moving traffic that will be taking place.
– Be on the lookout for any damage and any missing items or boxes. Ensure the paperwork (bill of lading) has been notated appropriately with any additional paperwork and notation if needed. Make sure copies of the paper are provided.
– Pay the movers and it is always nice to tip especially if they did a good job. Begin to unpack the essentials only and put up curtains. As previously mentioned, hopefully, the new house has already been clean and prepared to make it necessary for only important simple basic things to be done the first day.
– Relax and unwind. The unpacking of everything does not have to be done on the first day.
