Ogden River Scenic Byway
To get an incredible view of a river, you need to get some elevation. Which is what makes the Ogden River Scenic Byway so special. There are some hills on the side of the river plain that gives you some great views of the sparkling river below. The hills are interesting in their own right with plenty of trees and then scenic openings so you can see miles across the valley.
Provo Canyon
One of the most scenic drives in Utah is the area of the Provo Canyon. Not only is it a beautiful area with Alpine scenery, there is a lot to do there. If you are an outdoorsy type then don’t just drive through and enjoy the scenery. You should make a point to stop for a few days and enjoy the area around the canyon.
This is a major destination for fly fishing that is one of the best and most scenic areas in the country. There are a lot of outfitters in the area that can take you out for the day if you don’t have any gear of your own.
There is also boating on the lake at the top of the canyon with marvelous scenery all around you which is best seen from the lake.
Mirror Lake
Another area that looks straight out of the Alps is the area around Mirror Lake. The reflection of the snow-capped peaks on the lake makes for a very Instagrammable picture that looks straight off of a postcard.
There is a route that is perfect for motorcycles that run along the lake and through the mountain passes.
Again, make a point to stop for a bit and enjoy some hiking through pine forests and take a dip in the many lakes around the area. If you are looking to beat the heat then this is the place to be. Temperatures are generally 15 to 20 degrees cooler than in the valleys of the area.
Eureka to Delta
If you really want to feel away from it all then a trip to the Eureka area will have you feeling like you’re on another planet. This desert area with its mesas and stark landscapes is straight out of a movie.
