Family camping sounds fun but how to have a comfortable family camping trip without stress and a bad mood? Going camping with your loved ones should be interesting but what do you need to do to be comfortable at the campsite?
Read on to know how to organize for camping and which camping equipment you need to pack if you want to enjoy yourself with your family and stay happy.
Camping organization
Camping organization is the most important key to having satisfied camping. It is not any different than packing for the vacation in a family resort (okay, maybe is a little more demanding as you won’t have such luxury as in the resort).
You will have to think things through so your family members will enjoy camping as they thought they will be.
Plan things ahead
My suggestion is to grab a piece of paper and make a checklist of the things that you will need at camp. Think of a gear that all of you will need and write it down. Then grab another piece of paper and write essentials that each of the member’s needs (medicines, for example).
When you finished with the checklists it is time that you prepare the necessities for the trip. Think of a place where you will put all these things and arrange them so you will know how to pack them when it’s time to leave the home.
It is also important to make some money, IDs, and book a spot at the campground if you are going to one.
This is how I plan a trip so I don’t forget the essentials for camping.
Gear for comfortable camping
Now that you know how to prepare for an outdoor adventure it’s time that we look at the gear that will provide you comfort and satisfaction while you camp.
Sleeping system
On what will you sleep? Sleeping on bare ground without some padding is not fun as you will wake up with neck or spine pain.
You can opt for camping sleeping equipment like sleeping bags that will provide warmth and insulation for your loved ones. A sleeping bag provides some padding but it is even better if you put a camping pad under it.
Camping pillows, blankets, cots, and mattresses are also at your disposal, so you can choose the bedding that fits your needs perfectly.
Camping tent
An outdoor shelter is one of the basics when it comes to camping safely and protected. I am sure that you won’t build a bush shelter for all of you so the most appropriate way to protect yourself outdoors is to opt for a tent that you will be sleeping comfortably in.
There is no comfort when rain sips through seams and bad crafted material so I recommend getting a waterproof outdoor tent that is crafted with high-density fabric and is impregnated with a waterproof coat.
A waterproof tent is the most obvious gear if you will camp throughout the year. However, if you want to camp only in the summertime it is better that you opt for a tent that has a lot of mesh and vents so your summer camping will be easier to bear.
Do you have a dog that you don’t want to leave at home? Take your Fido with you and take a rest in a dog tent for camping. He can sleep aside you or in the vestibule or porch area.
Camping chairs
Foldable camping chairs are one of the pieces of equipment that you will need outdoors. Kids like to sit on the bare ground but do you want to do it too? I don’t think so. If you buy camping chairs you will be able to sit while you eat, read and relax on your front porch (if the tent has it).
For buying the right ones, make sure they are stable and big enough to provide you with comfort and functionality.
Cooler
Where will you put your food to stay fresh and cool for the time you camp? You have good coolers that are appropriate to take camping. Make sure you cool the cooler before you go and stuff it with the frozen food without leaving too much space inside. This way food will stay cool for a longer time.
Hammock
Where is the best place to read your favorite book and relax in the wildlife? It’s in the hammock of course. Invest in a hammock or two so you and your members will have a lifted resting place. Tie it around the trees and enjoy in peace while reading the book you wanted to read for a long time now.
Cooking gear
Cooking fresh meals at camp also counts for having a comfortable adventure. As keeping your party fed is very important get some foldable cooking appliances as a camping stove and other cooking devices to prepare delicious camp meals. Don’t forget to prepare comfy food that your family loves to eat.
Hygiene
How about hygiene? What to take along to meet at least basic hygiene requirements? You should bring basic products like a toothbrush and toothpaste, a comb, wet wipes, toilet paper, soap and shampoo (I recommend using biodegradable ones), a nail set, a razor, and tweezers.
Don’t bring a few types of face creams on the trip because this won’t make your journey more pleasurable; you will only have more to pack. Even more, I am sure that you would find out that you didn’t use most of the creams so rather pack just a basic one.
What to wear?
I never complicate with clothing when it comes to camping. It is crucial that you take some waterproof clothes to stay dry while being outside and some cotton or wool clothing to stay warm. If you will camp in summer then take more T-shirts along and protect your skin from the UV rays.
First aid kit
You never know what happens so it is best if you take a first aid kit. Make sure it is full with all the necessities to take care of the wound or injury.
Be a happy camping family
If you take care of the essentials for camping you can have a happy adventure that you will want to repeat as soon as possible. Consider my camping checklist and organizational tips to have comfortable camping no matter which camping spot you choose.
