Moving can be a stressful time even when you are completely prepared and aware it is coming up. So, moving when you only have 4 weeks to get everything ready can feel like more of a challenge than you bargained for.
But do not worry! It can be done!

Follow this 4-week plan for last-minute moving so you can reduce some of the chaos, get the ball rolling, and come out the other side almost scratch-free!
Week 4
This week is where you want to really start making a dent in the moving process. If you know your new address and have everything ready to go when you get there, then alerting your gas and electric company, WiFi company, cell phone company and the bank should be a priority. This means they have a month to sort things out and swap things over for you. The last thing you want is to be in your new house but have to wait for weeks for the internet to work!
It is also important to find a trusted Mover to help the experience go seamlessly, and they can also help you pack!
This week is where you can start looking at the non-essentials. That table upstairs you never use but is definitely coming with you, the bed in the spare room, the display cabinets. All of these kinds of items can be taken down and packed away ready for the move. You will not miss them, which is what week 4 is all about.
Week 3 to 2
These classic in-between weeks can sort of blur into one, and this is where you want to get a lot more of your packing done. It is definitely still time to work your way through the least used items toward the most used items and it is up to you how you prioritize this. This is also a good time to pack up any clothes you might not use regularly, along with shoes, accessories, and other knickknacks such as games and books.
Top tip: Remember to label all of your boxes, and if you can stretch to it, write down what is inside too. This will help you immensely over at the other end when you are desperately trying to find a plate and are opening every box to just see what’s inside.
Week 1
Remember when this list mentioned booking a mover? Well, if you did forget, then book yourself a ‘last minute movers near me’ now. They exist for a reason, and that is because not everyone can do everything or be everything all of the time. They are there, ready to go as soon as you are.
This is the week that you want to start packing up the last of your things such as your sofa, your TV, and your bed. You will more than likely want to replace this with an air bed if you are able to, which means you can just deflate and go in the morning. If not, movers can also help you pack up the remaining stuff.
